Persisting Mask

I masked off an area of my sculpt and extracted it, but only a portion of it can be altered. That portion happens to be outside the area masked off on the original subtool. So I deleted the subtool, and after several more attempts decided to work on the original subtool.

This is where is gets weird: The original mask still resides and though I can delete it, its impossible to work on that area anymore (which is exactly like the extracted piece) --even with the mask gone. No matter what is tried the area is protected like an invisible mask is still protecting it.

Furthermore, the ‘eye’ icons aren’t working properly anymore. The top mesh can’t be made invisible anymore. If I try, the subtool below it disappears… <shrug>.

The mask resists all commands in the masking sub-palette. It also won’t respond properly to the on screen taps and strokes, but it can be painted off. It’s a work-around, but at least it works.
