persistent artifact in color map

Hi all,

i am sure this has come up before since I have had this issue and fixed it opreviously but this time it just wont go away. When I try and paint this dark circle out in PM it goes away until I pick up the model…

Nothing I do seems to get rid of it. Any ideas?
I am AUV tiled and I assume this is from one of my seessions with either fade off ot double sided on… nevertheless nothing will allow me to remove it not ZApplink, PM, or the will of The Great Old Ones.

Now check this out
if I go to flat render and turn off texture the weirdness is still there! I cannot even use the polygon painting with colorize on in the document window to remove it…

the Pm stops responding?

it should go away try painting from other angles, and try hiding parts around it to save memory.

But your flat render shows that this maybe caused due to eraser brush, some polygons might have been deleted ?

TRy putting the texture off and use smooth brush or other brushes on that place and then see it goes away in flat render or not ?

Hope it helps.

If it still doenst help, hide and delete rest of model and upload this section of model for us to try understand the problem.

Problem, kinda solved

i just went back to an earlier mesh and applied the newest texture which leads me to believe I did something to the geo womewhere along the way… odd.

Still, if I missed something please let me know.

Yes Scott

You effected the geo in some way.

I think go back with your workflow and try to see where you actually effect the geo, only you can find this out.

Its important so that not to effect your work again with this problem.

But the black burns shows eraser brush has been used somewhere.

I am not sure what could have caused your problem. I tried a couple of things but could not get the results to still show in flat render mode.

My only guess would be that you had some material embedded in the texture map that disregarded the color values ? If that was the case you could simply export the texture, import it again and select it in the texture palette. When importing a texture ZBrush does not read the channels that contain embedded material information, it only retains that information if you save the .ztl with a texture.

The embedded materials can be viewed in the photoshop channels palette where each material has a distinct grey RGB value.

edit> but as wckedsunny said it would help nail down the problem if you could export the model, or a part of it, with the offending texture map.

Thanks for the input and ideas guys, I really appreciate it : )

The only way I could reproduce what you’ve got is by masking. I suspect you had a small area of your mesh masked - that’s the only thing that will show up in Flat Render and cause the problems you describe.

Was there ever a solution to this issue? I’m having a similar issue in Z4… Found quite a few mentions of these problems online with no solutions.
