I’ve read this:
http://www.zbrush.info/docs/index.php/ZBrush_to_3ds_Max
and though it’s a little dated, the information still seems solid enough. Still, I cannot seem to successfully pass a mesh from ZB to max then back into ZB. Here’s what I’m doing:
I’m really paring this down to the essentials.
- Load the DemoHead ZTool.
- Step down to subdivision level 1.
- export as OBJ using Tool>Export, with MRG enabled and GRP disabled.
- Import OBJ into max (I’m using 2009) using the default OBJ Import dialogue settings.
*At this point I do absolutely nothing to the geometry, UVs, or anything else. Once the mesh is imported into max, I simply export it back out as a new OBJ using the ZBrush preset in max’s OBJ Export dialogue.
- Back in ZBrush I still have my DemoHead at it’s lowest subdivision level, so I import the OBJ I just exported from max. This replaces the LVL-1 geometry. Now when I try to step up in my subdivision levels my geometry explodes.
Again, I’ve done nothing to effect the point order of the mesh, so I’m not sure what’s going on. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Dustin
