Panel Loops making object disappear

Hi, I’m following along with the Digital Tutors Quick Start videos and am at the point of creating the panel loops on the tank object. However when I press the Panel loops button the model disappears.

I’ve tried the following things with no success:

Selected all the different parameters within Panel Loops
Pressed f to frame
Pressed “double” and “flip”
Tried on two different machines I have ZB installed on (one desktop, one laptop) - same thing happens on both
Tried it on two different objects, a simple sphere with polygroups assigned and my other model
The “active points” & “total points” displayed reduce a little but don’t go down to zero
Pressing Panel loops button on an object with no polygroups assigned results in it disappearing
I’ve pressed Unify in deformation tab

I’m on version 4R6. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

I can confirm on this end that it does indeed seem like a bug. Works fine in 4r5 but 4r6 gives the same as the OP.

Is there another release of 46 with bug fixes? Personally I have already stopped using 46 due to bugs on operations that where working in 4r5.

For me this is added to that list unless there is more information on changes to 46 we are not aware of.

Noticed it here too but I’m going to keep working with 6P2 as it’s not a vital part of my workflow at the moment (panel loops that is).

Thankfully I still have a fully working version of 4R5 as the installer didn’t deactivate it so I’ll go back to using that for now.

I’m having the same issue as well.

  1. Create a sphere.
  2. Initialize: 32 x 16
  3. Make a couple of polygoups. Whether all polys of the sphere are assigned to one ore more polygroups or just some, doesn’t matter.
  4. Create a panel loop.
  5. Object disappears. At this point you can still undo and continue to work with the file.

However, if…

Do steps 1-4 as above
5. Undo so you get the object back.
6. Subdivide once.
7. Delete lower subdivision
8. Create a panel loop.
9. Now ZBrush hangs and you can only force it to quit. Can’t undo.

Same issue here too. The problem seems to be with the first polygroup. When you make the first polygroup invisible, the rest work fine. However, when trying panel loops on the problem polygroup it just disappears.
