Thanks mate glad you like it
I agree. The face definitely looks similar to the Angel of Death from Hellboy II.
Starting to consider the composition of the character, I have also added small spiders but more will be placed in the scene as I near the completion of the piece.
Thanks for looking
Nice stuff hereā¦
Like the hanging locker type of thingā¦
I really like how this is progressing. Top stuff.
Have you considered making him interact abit more with the sourroundings? If you need some inspiration Iām thinking of the Shelob scene in LotR, where she has legs high and low on the rock and cliff nearby as she is crawling forward.
I would also suggest you put something in the scene to remind us of the scale of the thing - maybe a broken shield, a rusty sword or something else that the viewer knows the scale off.
cheers,
boom
Hi tincow, very nice piece of work here⦠something a different, pose is great aswell.
I do have one suggestion though. Have you thought about increasing the muscles on his back where the legs connect. The muscles there at the moment dont look like they are strong enough move the legs.
Just a thought!
But real nice work, be good to see the final image
Arvind!
Thanks for the positive feedback, most appreciated.
BooMMooB - I see what you mean, it would make for a more interesting image if I moved him around utilising the environment. I have LOTR so I will give that a look, thanks for the input I really do appreciate it.
sonder - I see what you mean and I see where you are coming from, I will have an experiment and see what results I come up with.
Thanks again for the crit
Finally got a chance from work to go back and do a little more, I have started to make the environment for him but have as yet to put detailing into the skulls etc but thatās the next pass before the texturing.
I rendered this pass with the BPR render and comped together in Photoshop, I need to finish this model this week and move onto something moreā¦well normal to brush up on my anatomy and clothing work.
As always thanks for looking.

Coming along real well I prefer this version without the eye stem things. Looks more monstrous this way.
Cheers mate, a lot of people said they did not like the feelers (on twitter) so I thought it a good idea to drop them
Personally I think you should give it some eyes for viewing in the dark, otherwise it looks too much like the Angel of Death.

Been making the pedestal and having some fun with fibres too, next sort the materials out for the character.
Thanks for looking
Looking good, well looking forward to seeing this finished now
Looks very cool. Very nice attention to detail. The only thing that throws me off a little is how giagantic the keeper feels, how brutal and how fierce yet on the other hand how neglectingly easy it carries the keys.
The feelers looked cool, IMO. They sure seemed weird but it fits the tone, I think.
Looking forward to more
Nasty!
But awesome
Creepy ;).
Great job ā¦
Thanks for the positive words Here is the next update, excuse the poorly painted drool (just a little experiment).
I have started the texturing and I am focusing on the flesh areas first, just want to make sure the raw areas look good before moving on.
The materials are my own and rendered with BPR, once he is finished and they are perfected I will share them and the settings I have used :D.
As always thanks for looking.
great!
I like the design of this creature.
I`m looking forward to the colored works.
Thanks for the positive comment mate, much appreciated
Did some more texturing last, may just add some more veining but I think the body is pretty much done.
The body uses 2 different SSS materials that I have made, one that simulates the skin for the main bulk and another for hard bone like extrusions and his teeth. For the hair on his back that is out of Maya with the same material added as the main body.
