“Pale Man” - Digital Sculpture by Surajit Sen

“Pale Man” - Digital Sculpture

A reductive, clay-saturated study of the “Pale Man,” derived from the Spanish film Pan’s Labyrinth (El laberinto del fauno), a dark fable set in post–Civil War Spain, where innocence collides with brutality through mythic allegory.
The creature,an embodiment of predatory indulgence and moral decay,is interpreted here through exaggerated cranial volume, pendent dermal folds, and distressed surface language, privileging unease over anatomical orthodoxy.
My sculptural approach remains instinctive and excavation-driven; I permit abrasion, drag, and asymmetry to dictate form, revealing a psyche inclined towards tension, erosion, and the latent grotesque.
I deliberately eschew refinement, seeking instead an archaeological presence—where material memory, surface trauma, and structural imbalance cohere into a singular, disquieting entity.
