painting with a ztool as a brush

I did a search but didnt see anything.
This might be something very simple to do that I have yet to discover but, is it possible to paint on a new object a ztool that you have created, over the new objects surface.

I know that you can grab an alpha and drag that around, but what about more complex geometry with undercuts. For example if you wanted to drag around a bunch of skulls inset on a wall. They have enough rounding depth that an alpha grab doesn’t work that well.
Thanks

yar, I was wondering too.

You would need to use Projection Master. This lets you drop the model and then draw on it using anything found in the Tool palette. PM has options for painting with color and/or material, as well as depth.

Ah yes that does work, cool thanks man.
Very cool indeed.

You might also want to check out the Mesh Insert brushes which are very powerful.

Hell yeah, thats what I want, then I can take a low rez mesh and use the rigging transfer stuff to that and give me my levels back.
Thats awesome, thanks.

ok tried a couple tests, and it looks like when you rebuild the topology of a mesh based on something built with the insert mesh brush, it still builds the surfaces inside the mesh. Is this right, and if so is there a way around it?
like a setting or something so you dont have to delete anything manually?

AH ok I got it workin, its just kind of buggy, definitely needs to be a solid closed mesh, you have to have the EDIT Topology toggled when creating the adaptive skin(which seems strange) otherwise results are ‘unpredictable’. Messed with the projection settings a bit but doesn’t seem a way to improve the solution for undercuts, the distribution of edges get thin in these spots and jaggy, makes sense but was hoping for better. Thanks for all the help on this, a very cool tool to have in the back pocket.
