Painting UV's and Export to Photoshop

Hi everyone, I noticed Mudbox 2011 has a feature that allows you to export out your models UV’s to Photoshop quickly, paint them and then import them back into Mudbox to be displayed on your model in real time. I was wondering if Zbrush had a feature or plugin like this? I know there is Zapplink, but I was hoping to actually paint on the UV template and have it displayed in the Zbrush viewport. Thanks a lot in advance :+1:

If your model have UVs in ZBrush (made with UV Master, etc…), display the wireframe (Shift+F), then go in Tool >> UV Map and set the UV space size in pixels (1K -> 8K, as you whish), then go in Tool >> Texture map and click on “New from UV Check”. It will generate a texture based on your UV space, including the wireframe on it.
Then clone this texture (in the same menu) and export it as a PSD.
Open it n Photoshop, do your paint job, then save and load it in ZBrush and replace the previous one with the new one.
I hope it helps!

Hi Totyo, thanks for the quick reply  I tried it out and it worked great! Not to sound lazy but do you know if there’s a plugin that does this as an automated function? It would be really handy to hit a button in Zbrush and export a PSD to Photoshop to work on and bring back quickly. Thanks again, really helpful advice

Record a macro and save it
