Painting texture with displacement at the same time.

Obviously we can paint with a texture and an Alpha map at the same time but, the Alpha also masks the texture.

So my question is - how can I paint with a texture and an Alpha that matches the texture but not mask it. Is this possible ?

Sometime it would be good to paint textures with extrusions/displacements that match the texture but in no way mask the texture…

At present I am doing tree bark for example and using a greyscale version of the treebark in the alpha and a colour version of the bark in the texture but most of it is being masked by the alpha…

you can record the stroke that you’re applying.
do one with the alpha
repeat the same stroke with the texture.

ctrl+1 will repeat the last stroke as well.

That looks like a slow, long way 'round a simple thing but thanks for the input. I shall look into recording strokes.
Will we see multiple layered strokes soon ? I guess not until we see texture layers !
