Hi I want to paint this head realistically but I am unsure what the best method would be using ZBrush. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

well zbrush is not the greatist tools for painting heads so you can try useing bodypaint with revs bodypaint is made for doing heads and bodys

Thanks 3DUser. I’d like to use ZBrush to paint the head but I was wondering if any of the painting techniques in ZB 4 have improved and what would be better for painting the skin. For example:

  1. Can I paint the skin using a photo of skin and apply it to the surface with a brush?

  2. Can I rotate the head around while painting on it? I read Zapplink requires you to freeze the head and only allows you to paint one view at a time.

  3. Can I paint a skin photo on the head using Polypaint or can polypaint only paint color?

  4. What is the most user friendly way to paint the head using ZBrush 4 or a ZBrush plug-in?

You should watch the Spotlight Tutorials in ZClassroom. Especially the second to last one titled ‘Texturing’.
