Painting over geometry edges with projection master

I’m trying to paint the sides of a cube using projection master. My cube has rounded edges. When I drop the geometry to the canvas and start painting I can’t seem to cover the boundries of the geometry. I’m using the Simple Brush with Mrgb and Zadd selected. If I lay out a flat surface first, it covers the edges, but when I start painting with the Simple Brush the lines reappear. Once the object is picked up again the lines are projected onto the texture, and it’s making me want to cry. Help?

Here’s an image of the problem before picking up the object.

Those lines that you’re seeing are being caused by the fact that ZBrush builds pixols up on top of what is present on the canvas. Since the face of your model is not flush with the canvas, you get visible lines where the stroke crosses from canvas to object. You can see this in effect by opening the Transform palette in one of the trays and showing the Info menu. While you move your pointer across the canvas, watch the Z value (the depth). You’ll see that there’s a sharp change in values when the paint moves onto or off of the object.

Thanks Aurick.

I just wanted to use the dropped object as a template for the painted texture not as a base for the texture. I think the solution for me is to use a second layer and tweak the Displace Z settings to get the paint in front of the dropped object. At least I know what’s causing the lines now. Hopefully all of this will become second nature soon enough. For now I just feel like a big dope.
