Painting in ZBrush questions

Hiya,

I’m following along with Meats and his beginners DVD and I’m at a quandary. I got as far as getting the figure set up (from DAZ Studio, import as tool, sub divide and now got it set up to color and add texture to)

Can’t seem to get the texture NOR the alphas to work at all. So not understanding what’s going on.

Info: Windows Vista, SP2

Thanks

To polypaint, insure that the Colorize trigger is enabled in the Texture pallet. Also, try cranking but the RGB and Intensity sliders to 100, then try painting.

OK, restarted ZBrush, luckily I had saved my current mesh as a tool so that wasn’t lost.

I’ve got it working… kind of.

If I have a texture imported it’s filling the entire mesh, which isn’t what I want. I want to be able to paint WITH the texture to lay it out as I want it laid out.

I can’t find this Colorize trigger you mentioned. Not sure why they named both palettes “Texture”, would have made more sense to name one Tool Texture or something. Kind of confusing for a newbie when folks are trying to help. Is it the tool Texture palette on the right pane or is it the Texture palette on the right pane?? On the right I see no option called that in the Texture palette. There’s a slider that seems to apply each texture in the fly out palette when pushed back and forth but again, I don’t want to simply fill the mesh like that.

When the texture fills like that that’s when the alpha no longer SEEMS to function. Seems odd that there’s no way to turn down the opacity on the textures or perhaps there is a way but I don’t know of it.

The tool Texture palette seems more geared towards UV’s.

Anyways, I’m pretty wet behind the ears. Sorry about that! :o

Once you have your texture projected onto your tool, go to the Texture pallet and hit Tex>Col. You should then be able to paint on top of your texture. This is all assuming you have UVs.

where can i find that dvd?
