Ovelapping UVs

I’ve imported a Character from Poser into ZBrush 3.5. After checking the UVs I found they were overlapping (red). I managed to rearrange the UVs in UVMapper so that they didn’t overlap. I exported and imported back into ZBrush. Even though the UVs are not overlapping (after checking UVs in ZBrush) I still have UVs colored in red.

Can anyone tell me whether this is a bug or is it normal. Or perhaps I’m doing something wrong.

ZBrush will only display UVs in the 0 - 1 range, so anything outside this will appear to be overlapping. Depending on what you are doing you can still work with UV tiles. For example you can assign polygroups based on the tiles and then use Groups Split to split the mesh into subtools to work on separately.

Thanks Marcus

That sort of makes sense. However I’ll need to read up to fully understand.

My workflow is based on importing a Poser model into ZBrush, sculpting and then importing the model back into Poser, which will eventually be loaded into Vue. I just get the feeling that I’m climbing a very steep hill because I don’t even know if this work flow will work (compatibility issues).

I am also struggling to find any help with this issue from several forums.

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.
