I really wonder why such a powerful tool as Cheetah3d http://www.cheetah3d.com/ isnĀ“t listed so far, its really easy to use, free for personal use and has excellent render options especially useful for Sculptris and other OBJ-files.
Although it has to be mentioned it is just for OSX.
It doesnāt look like itās free anymore.
No, its still free, just hit the download page.
But I forgot to mention that any scene canĀ“t be saved in the free version, but if a render is all you need, that is not a problem.
I also had not a problem to keep one scene open for 2 weeks to tweak and change, so not a problem on a mac:)
And if you need to save, I guess $99 is not that big investment compared to other packages if it turns out to be used often.
No that doesnāt make it free, that makes it a trial. I donāt have a problem with listing the software as long as people are aware of what it really is, and free itās not. Even if it is a cheap option.
cheetah isnāt a good app. No need to spend your time with it.

ā¦ good apps are rare to find. I also donĀ“t say this or that app is crap (although the most free ones posted here are) and the ones which are not, like Sketchup, Sculptris and Cheetah3d limited to a certain point -> update at a cost.
If someone has not the time to get into blender will find cheetah useful, at least I did.
Is not really a soft but is about 3D content and i think that could be interesting in the future, is about the use and running of games and 3D content directly in the web brownser, Firefox has released her version 15, that is heavily implemented for this kind of task. For showing the capabilityes they have made a game demo that runs directly from the brownser whitout no plugin, only HTML5 and java.

I think that this is a easy demo and really dont show all the brownser capabilyties, i was thinking to in how it could change the look and even the concept of today webshops, changuin the usual collection of pics of shoes and cars for detailed 3d models.

SketchUpā¦? The majority of the good plugins are free and run on the free version. Sometimes, free plugins like the obj exporter are superior to the paid build in ones.

I used Sculptris, MeshMixer,Hexagon 2, Meshlab, and Accutrans (free version) to sculpt the figure and make the little warp bubble he is traveling in.
I used GIMP 2 and DAZ3d for the graphics and the animation.
Corel VideoStudio 5 isnāt free but it was under 50 bucks and I used that to do all the compositing and editing.
Hey I found something you might be interested in ā¦ Brekel Kinect. Itās an open source driver for XBoX Kinect to run on your computer and a program for recording BVH motions. INSTALL THE DRIVER BEFORE YOU PLUG IN KINECT ā¦ Otherwise the Kinect will download the MS drivers and the install wonāt work (took me a few installs to figure it out) ā¦ but yea ā¦ MoCap in your living room ā¦ and itās got a Poser/DAZ setting. Might still have to adjust them with BVHacker ā¦ but could be a lot of fun for you animators out there !!
