I am trying to download the video tutorial for Modo 401 and GoZ
but keep getting this message
" This server can only be accessed by the proper referring server. "
I have searched the forums to see if this has happened and indeed on several occasions people have posted similar problems but I have not found any reply from Pixologic to explain why this is happening.

Pc user very excited for the ZB4 release!!!
My mind is expanding exponentially at every moment thinking of what i will be able to do and achieve! :idea:
I need zb4 to release the pressure! Need to FLOW!
Zbrush and pixologic… you are Epic
Being that I only have access to PC’s, I’m finding the curiosity excruciating…I would like to see posts that show (vids, links, descriptions) how flexible the goZ workflow is,…I’m wondering where it breaks down, and how far it can be stretched before that happens,…for instance,…I’ve seen the vids of the tree headed guy, one thing that is apparent, is that you can to some extent punch holes in the geometry, add edges, ect…and seemlessly continue in zbrush (basically seems like the miracle I’ve been waiting for),…but still, I want to know, will this process break if the silhouette is altered radically in Maya?..also, if there is an area with high res sculpting, is it simply ‘erased’, should u stretch and alter the underlying topology…just to start from a simple cube in zbrush, rough in a shape, then add edges in maya is great,…In any case, for all you lucky Mac users, I’d like it if u’d post u’re findings, give examples of how this adds flexibility, and where the process breaks,…otherwise I guess I’ll just hold out til Z4,

It totally depends on your 3D software. I have both Modo and Cinema 4D… GoZ works with both…but going back and forth works much better with Modo than with Cinema 4D as it has a different normal (reversed) and axis system (Zaxis) from zBrush …actually using the Riptide Pro plugin and importing/exporting object files for me is the way to go with the Cinema 4D/zBrush pipeline… for Modo, however, it works great (really great) because you get your texture and displacement without having to bother to import and you can tweak and (test)render…and you can just flip back and forth and make changes … but even there, you have to be careful, since zBrush seems to remember modifications made in zBrush that you did not want to apply…and that can mess up stuff…the way around this is renaming the mesh you work with or deleting the higher subdivisions…
I have continually attempted to download the instructional videos with no success. I know others have also had this problem and that support has as yet to comment on the reasons for this.
Just wondered how long I have to wait to get GoZ working for me
In Safari all I need to do is click the link to the movie and it downloads. Using ‘Download Linked File As’ doesn’t work. With Firefox I can click the link or use the ‘Save Link As’.

I am using Safari 4 and have also tried Firefox 3.5 but keep getting the same error message.
I have however visited my friend’s home who uses windows xp and the links work just fine there so I have a copy now on cd that will help.
Still no idea why it will not work on my Macbook pro using OS 10.5 using latest versions. Strange to say the least.
Thanks for the help guys
Pixolator - A list of enhancements will be posted at ZBrushCentral in the coming days.
it has been three weeks… and no list yet…
You obviously haven’t learned to convert Pixologic time into real world time. Let me help.
Soon = Quite a while
Days = Weeks
Weeks = Months
A specific month = 11:59pm PST of the last day of that month (or very early the following morning)
Hope this helps.
hehe,
Exactly my point, I have waited the “days” (weeks) and still nothing.
I guess its time to buy a Mac. Windows is rubbish and now my favourite piece of software has released the best update ever and I cant use it.
Does anyone know if a Mac can read PC files from zbrush and Maya? Also can a PC read Mac written ZB and Maya files?
Yes to everything I think. You can even run windows natively on your mac alongside OsX and with a little bit of software read/write to HD freely between the two systems. Most reliable PC I ever had.
All the files are binary compatible. You won’t lose a thing.
Lots of reasons to switch… just ignore the noise that will inevitably come your way (price, it’s a toy, locked in, yada yada yada).
yes, ignore it till it’s too late, drink the koolaid! hale bopp will be here soon!
The GoZ upgrade for Mac has been profound. It really changed the way I work. The intergrate between Maya and ZB is almost like one App.
Again, can’t thank you enough. I bought my version of ZB this early this year and I have not been disappointed in the least bit. It was the best software I bought in decades.
Now we are on the cusp of OSX Snow Leopard (10.6) 64 bit addressing. I am excited about the future.
Have anybody tried zbrush 3.2, maya, cs3 or bodypaint r11 on Snow Leopard?
Im afraid to install it without knowing if everything will work on it.
It’s working fine on my laptop - but my desktop is hosed.

You should be doing a clean install with Snow Leopard. In other words full install and re-install apps that are needed to get the most of the new system.
This approach should have your old system on a drive (SuperDuper) just in case so you can move app after app over until you have issues. Keep plugins, etc. until your sure the app works.
You don’t have to go this route, but it makes it darn hard to find the problems.
coalmarchtom, if it works on one, then it works on the other unless you have something funky on that system.
I’ve always considered macs to be overpriced and under supported in both software and hardware…90% of all computers out there are installed with the windows os, so I’m completely boggled by why it’s being released for the mac first…Nevertheless, I look forward to its release for the pc.
