OSX maya goz

I loaded a ztl with many subtools. It initially came from maya but I have since saved it off as a ztl and worked on it a lot. I just tried sending it back to maya 2011 by pressing “all.” All but one subtool came back. I easily made my tweaks in maya (pulling verts only). Then when I tried to send it back with goz and the geometry scaled waaaaaaay up when it worked, sometimes it inverted my model’s geometry and sometimes the geometry collapsed or deformed. How can I defeat this?

Any help would, as always, be appreciated.
