Orc Head

It has 6 subdivision levels, and 2,8 million polys. Thanks alot for your comments, advices are always welcomed.

I think its looking really good. you have some great form going on, and a nice excpression.
the 2 things that jump out at me, are the ears and the teeth. I think they need some work before you go into any further detailing.
The ear lobs, how they stick out there. its a bit on the extreem side I think. and then the rest of the anatomy on the inside of the ear I would work on.
and the teeth, they look a litle to, “soft” and fleshy, if that makes sense?
but, your not dose, I’m sure they will look fine when done.

lastly, and this is something I think would enhance the overall realisum of the piece, is hes a bit on the symetrical side. your detail is pretty a-symetrical, bhut your form of your sculpture is consistant right to left. id break this up a bit, they can be subbtle things. but I think it will add to the realisum.

you obviously know your way around Z-brush, and I’m still new to sculpting in it. but looking at it from a sculptors point of view, I thought id mention a few things.

Finished the textures, so I started shading the whole thing.

Can’t really tell if it is your texture or if it is the SSS, seems a little spotty around the neck. If it is part of the texture, add some specular map to the spots to really give them some definition. I think that would seriously sell if off, don’t worry about bumping it since you already have your disp/or nm depending on which you are using because it doesn’t need to be too much, just enough to make it look slimey like his head. If it’s spotty from the SSS, increase your algorithim. That tattoo is rawking, really great as well as the rest of your colors for the skin text. Can’t wait to see those teeth all grimmed up! Keep it up!

Looking good. My only crit would be that the iris is too small. Perhaps these are not your final eyes. :smiley:

Texture looks great…just need to form the gums around the teeth a bit more. Good tattoo!

What program did you use for rendering? It’s really nice…

Very nice job, I do agree with the above grits about the gums & those eyes, need to do somthing about those to really give it that finnished look. The skin texture is really nice.

I do agree with you guys about the eyes and the teeth and gums, I’m working on those.
I’ll also make the shading more diffuse, alot of details from disp and bump got lost. Right now it looks like a swamp wet thing, I’ll try to give him a more dusty/dirty look.
Firerbert: Those are texture details on the neck, I’ll make them bump. Also, the overall specular is to broken up, I’ll try to make it more consistent, this will hopefully bring out many details killed by SSS.
Rendering is done using Mental Ray for Maya. The rendered image is not postprocessed (oh, excepting the background and the logo).

Yea it’s coming along nicely. I was going to mention again that sss is making it a little too waxy and thus losing some of the detail you worked to attain, but i can see you’re already adressing this problem. I also agree with VVDFX on the ears as well, which I can see you are taking care of as well.

My fist reaction is WOW! the skin texture is good, out of the ground dirty good.
a few crits (and i have no idea how to fix it LOL)
…the eyes The eyes look good, but they looked pasted onto the head.
Maybe you have’t even got to work the details of that yet, just thought i mention it.:wink:
i notice this in alot of cg models posted.
somewhere online there are tutorials talking about NURBS curves making a lineing around the eye, for a tear duct.

Asa! The skin is looking much better. I agree with sadicus on the eys plus don’t forget to increase the size of those pupils. Looking Good.

Leshiy3d, that is the retopologized model from TopoGun3D, aswell as the nontextured zbrush highres model posted earlier.

I like the skin it’s very believable. The iris’s are a bit too small on the eyes, and the eyes too clean. That’s just my input :slight_smile: you could be going for cleaner eyes :slight_smile: keep it up keep us posted
