Old Zbrush documentations on Image planes

I am wondering if someone can help me. Biased off old zbrush documentation that was found on line over a year ago. In that documentation there was a way to set up Image Planes.

The process was.

Create your images in Photoshop.

In Zbrush make sure that you have a ztool loaded and in edit mode.

Go to the macro palette

Open the macros sub-palette and then open the rapidstart sup-palette

Press the imagePlaneX button

Load the image plane you saved from above.

Press transform: transparency to turn on transparency.

What ever happened to the rapid start mode in Zbruh 3.1

I like using the image planes this way. I have tried the zplugins for image planes but have found that they don’t work well for me. Is this old way still possible. I would appreciate the help.

Thank you for replying to my post. This is what I was looking for. Is there a way to change the image that is on the image planes. Something other than a skull. Can I use this method to help me model all types of things. I cant seem to find out how to change the actual image that is applied to the planes.

How can I change the Image?

Thanks again Marcus.

That’s easy:

  1. Download the default texture map as a guide for creating your own images:
    http://www.zbrush.info/docs/index.php/Image:ImagePlaneX_default.jpg

  2. Select the ImagePlaneX subtool in the Tool:SubTool list, and click on the eye icon of the sphere so that the sphere becomes invisible.

  3. Import the image you want to use by pressing the Import button in the Texture palette.

  4. Press Tool:Texture:Txr>Col. This will convert the texture image to polypainting.

  5. Click on the Sphere subtool to select it and switch the eye icon back on. Sculpt away!
