Old Centaur teased by Eros (cupid) sculpt

hi,
this sculpture is based on the ancient ‘Old Centaur teased by Eros’
i have changed a few thinks around from the classic sculpture.
Base mesh modeled in Maya after that all done in zbrush, renders are straight out of zbrush with a few adjustments in photoshop.

yup sgrell that is Cupid or also know in Greek mythology as Eros

here are some renders from maya using mental ray at the time i hadn’t finished Eros (cupid) looking to update this soon.

I love this, just one small crit though, Id work a bit more on his definition and overall muscleshape!

I kind of like the “loose” muscle definition. I think it fits the piece rather well.

Very nice, are you using a displacement map from zbrush in your maya render? Is that UV spread your displacement? Mental ray with area lights with a MR>area light>type>sphere?

Very nice very clean.

Intervain thank you, the print is quite small about 4 inches lost alot of detail from it but cant complain got it printed for free:D

Ares1979 thanks, yea you’re write im going to rework the old centaur abit using photo reference rather then reference from marble sculptures

Mrguy thanks, im using displacement map which is 32bit, i have clamped the image so you can see the displacement map clearly, lit using 3 spot lights and a environment hdri map for reflections.

shhark thanks, its a zcorp printer not intended to print fine detail, used for architectural stuff… got this sneaked in for a print 4 x 4 inches
