Old Ancient Vampire Creature

Hi everybody! It’s been a while! First a late happy new year from me to all of you. Last year ended slightly ****ty for me, by burning out, and having to take a mandatory break from working for a while. It worked out magically though and I feel as good as ever.

I want to share with you a work in progress personal project that I have started working on. I am not entirely sure where to go with him, but the story I have in mind for this guy is that of an old ancient vampire. This guy doesn't hunt at nights anymore, he has gone blind and gets his blood delivered to him by his minions and family. I am thinking of maybe dressing him in ceremonial armor, of which I've got a design in mind. I'll keep updating this thread, good to be back!

good details… gj

Hi jelmer,

I see in all your models a unique and a distintive style…I love it!keep posting!I like the expresion…

Very nice! I think the brow area could have more wrinkles/looser skin. He still looks a bit young because of the lack of them in that area. I’d imagine if he was an ancient vampire he would have more creases abd wrinkles after giving angry faces all those times over thousands of years. I look forward to more.

This is really nice! Have you used any alphas in the texture process? Or you did all that detail by regular brushes? Anyway, its awsome, congratulations!
And happy new year for you too! Great work!

wow…good to see u back…
the form and detail are really nice…

Nice. Love the ‘gollywoggles’ under the chin! A very serene facial expression, interesting idea and well executed. Keep going…

great work!

No real crits I’m afraid, I’m subscribing to the thread to see how this develops.

Good to hear an artist such as yourself needs a break… Else there’d be little hope for us less experienced people if you’re always on the go

Great Sculpt!! :+1:
Keep posting!

Thanks all! I use alphas all the time for organic stuff. For the chin I used a splotchy rough pattern, and smoothed it out slightly.

Really fresh concept and execution, I’d like to see him painted

I’d like see the types of alphas you use. I really like the character too, its like an ancient batman.

Pitty I don’t get any financial benefits from this, but here’s some shameless advertising for the great alpha maps from Aaron Sims, released by the Gnomon Workshop. They are a big part of the alpha collection I use for my personal projects. They’re absolutely fantastic, get them!
