Odd inconsistencies when wanting to make post icons? How to get an icon?

Okay, Been here, read this…

Asked a question at Tomas wittelsbachs thread see more
and to my surprise i was asked to make an icon for that post.
Wow, Great, i did so and the icon was fitting for the question.
But now after replying to a couple of other threads the question to change the icon never popped up again.
even though i added photos to the newer threads. The invite to make an icon never popped up again.

Step 1: Beneath the Attachments section you will see a section called "Upload and Create Post Icon". Click the “Click here to upload” link.
Searched for the option to change the icon to no avail. Can not find this option.
whats the trick?

I would also like to have a permanent icon that represents me, Hows that done?

PLEASE ALSO DO NOT MAKE A NEW ICON IF YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM.
so this would mean a paradox, a catch22 after making your first icon you are advised not to make a second icon. so making you stuck with the first icon???

After the first invitation to make a fitting post icon at tomas´s page
I thought i was going to be able to do this at all future posts AND have a permanent icon for myself.
I would just like to have a simple way to make an icon that is consistent.
Now the icon from the post over at Tomas page turns up when i post this thread to the forum.
But after editing this post the icon vanished.
Great, now the icons gone. Thats good as the icon was only fitting to the question on Tomas page.

and to change this now?
and have a permanent icon? How?

Also why could i not create an icon for the replies i made on other pages where i made comments with pictures?

And why is the old Tomas icon on that (above link) reply.

The icon i keep seeing here i do not want. Its okay on Tomas´s page but not here.

How do i find this "Upload and Create Post Icon" ?

In this new version of ZBC, your posts do not automatically create “bottom row” thumbnails in the Main Forum. This allows you to create multiple posts with images, yet not crowd out everyone else in the bottom row. It also allows you to only make icons for finished works or significant changes to your work.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A NEW ICON IF YOUR UPLOAD IS ONLY A MINOR UPDATE. PLEASE ALSO DO NOT MAKE A NEW ICON IF YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM.

It is now necessary to specifically create a thumbnail and this thumbnail will not appear in the post. This means you can create special images just for the thumbnail, such as one with a movie icon if you’re posting a video or one that says “Turntable” if your post includes a turntable.

To create your icon, do the following:

Step 1: Beneath the Attachments section you will see a section called "Upload and Create Post Icon". Click the “Click here to upload” link.

Step 2: A new window will open. Click “Choose File” and select the image that you wish to create your icon from.

Step 3: Select your image, then click “Upload”

Step 4: The window will update to show your uploaded image and an icon preview to its right. Drag anywhere on the image to crop your thumbnail.

Step 5: After dragging the crop box you can move it by dragging within the crop area or resize it by dragging the sides and corners.

Step 6: When satisfied with your thumbnail, click the “Crop & Save Thumbnail” button.

Step 7: You will see a confirmation page. Either start over or click the “Save” button to close the window. After clicking “Save” you will see the new thumbnail in the “Upload” section. When you post your thread, this icon will be used in the Main Forum’s thumbnails.

As of October 19, 2011 your bottom row icon will now also appear next to all of your ZBC posts, beneath your member name!This means that the exposure from sharing your artwork on ZBC will continue long after the bottom row icon has disappeared from the forum’s main page.

• Clicking the icon will take the user directly to the post that you created the icon for.
• The most recent thumbnail image will remain active for 30 days. If you do not share any new artwork within that time, your image will disappear from beneath your user name until the next time you post your work and create an icon for it.
• The more you participate at ZBC, the more places your icon will be seen. If you only post in your own thread, your artwork will only be seen by people visiting that thread. But every time you comment on someone else’s work, lend a hand in the Questions & Troubleshooting Forums, etc. your icon will appear there and help people find your artwork.

Please help us make ZBC a great place. Always upload your images to ZBC and insert them into your posts. Everyone will thank you for it!

You want to make an avatar. ZBC does not support avatars. The icon below your user name is not an avatar. It’s a quick link to the last image that you posted in ZBC Main Forum.

This behavior is as expected. Yes, yet…
I can see upload image or file field, but the rest i do NOT see.
perhaps you have to upload an image for the OTHER options to appear
in the area directly below. As you have in your picture.
Is that the way it works? That the field expands to reveal this option AFTER an image is uploaded?

Once you have uploaded your image, you would then click “Click to create thumbnail” which will bring up another screen. You can then select a portion of the image you uploaded to use as the thumbnail.

Also, you replied in a thread started by T.S.Wittelsbach in which you posted an image and then created a thumbnail of it which ended up in the “Recently Uploaded” rows. I’m sure this was just a mistake but it is not a good forum practice to do so. When you have created artwork that you want to show to the community, then you would create a thumbnail for the “Recently Uploaded” rows. That is what it is meant for. Once you have created a thumbnail, it will stay underneath your username for approximately 2 weeks and will be there for every post you make.

I just added an image to this post using the Insert image icon on the top editing row above this text.

the image `Rolling Eyes´ appears in the post.
but below…
Nothing…

there is still no option to create an icon as described previously.

and why the other one is in the top row recently uploaded, ? no idea.
a question popped up asking me if i wanted to create an icon for the question i had posed.
I chose yes. it seemed fitting.

But no such option to create an icon is available now.
If i wanted this Jar of eyes to now be the icon for this post.
I still see no way to do it.

I was to understand that hovering over one of these icons should give me the option to follow an artist.
Top right should give a follow option.
This option does not appear either.

And still no option for an icon creation.
Spooky or what.
