Octane render and ZBrush (materials question)

Hi
Does anyone have any experience with using ZBrush with Octane render? I was hoping to be able to build a model in ZBrush, apply different materials to the mesh by using polygroups and then exporting the resulting object for loading in as a mesh in Octane render. However, when I load the mesh into Octane there is only one material channel.
The steps I went through were as follows.
1/ Build the model
2/ Use the Curve Slice brush to make different polygroups
3/ Select each polygroup and use Colour -> Fill _> Object to assign a different material to each polygroup
4/ Use UV Master to uV the model
5/ Export Mesh as an obj
5/ Import obj mesh into Octane
PROBLEM: only one material channel available.

IS there a step I’ve left out to enable those material channels in octane?
I’ll post this same question in the Octane forum as well but would really appreciate any help
many thanks
