object appearing different in edit versus non edit mode

these two pictures are the exact same thing, no modifications one in edit mode, and the other after i unclicked edit

also after erasign the canvas( I had deselected the model, and switchted into a new layer to make a birthday card to print for a friend. I then switched back, clicked the marker. the tool looks ok in the deformation widown, but when i draw it it is squashed in one direction or the other side to side, or depth.

this is a wild guess , but have you enabled Perspective ? (in Draw menu I think)

If so , disable it :stuck_out_tongue:

A guess is that you have perspective activated. The perspective effect is apparent only when not in edit mode.

Go to the draw palette when not in edt mode; if the Perspective button is blue click it to unselect it and all should be fine.

OOPS thanks,I turned it on when i was being pissed off at the squashed face :frowning: I made sure i had it as a tool after spending 3 hours fiddling with it
and it when all flat :(, any suggestions as to why It was flat?

Any number of things could have led to it being flattened, but my guess is that you had the Scale gyro on at one point when you thought you had Move or Rotate. You then drug on one of the rings and flattened it.

There are two ways at this point to restore the model to its regular proportions. Option one is to enter Transform>Scale mode and go to the Transform>Info menu. There you will see three sliders. One will have a smaller value than the other two. If you change that slider’s value to match the others, your model will be back to normal.

Your other option is to remember that what happens on the canvas with the gyro does NOT affect what is in the Tool palette. Even in your screen shots, the model is unflattened. So you can delete the model on the canvas and then redraw it, good as new.

Lol believe me I didn’t have that pointer on. at that point, It was a tool, and appears fine in the deformation picture to the right, and as I drew it it was flat it would appear as a sideways picture. normal on the side facing out, but thin on the edge. rotate was only turned on so i could turn it for a better view to show the oddity for the post :stuck_out_tongue:

Then here’s what I think happened: You drew the object on the canvas, then decided mid-stroke that you’d gone too large and moved the cursor back toward the start of your stroke.

The way that 1.55b draws objects with the DragRectangle stroke, the movement away from the origin sets the thickness of the model, and the movement back toward the origin sets the XY values.
