OBJ Scale Issues

I am having a scale problem with importing objs from 3ds max 2009 into ZBrush. I do my initial high poly sculpt in ZBrush. I retopo it for the low poly game mesh and export it to max to UVW unwrap it (AUV and GUV tiles are useless for what I need). I then import the UV’d low poly mesh back into ZBrush, where I append it as a subtool to the initial sculpt so that I can project the high poly detail to the new mesh (after subdividing it). The problem is that the new mesh is now significantly smaller than the initial mesh.

I make sure that when I export from max I use ZBrush settings and keep the scale at 1. In the past I have scaled it up in ZBrush, but this is not precise and is time consuming. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Oh yeah, and does project all also project any textures I’ve painted on the high poly sculpt? I was told that it would. If not, how do I do that as well.
Thanks.

to fix the scale issue, set max’s export to the zbrush default, then turn everything off but texture coords.

some people say just turn off the optimize stuff, but I do it all.
Also, what are your import settings into MAX? That may be where the scale problem is coming from (things started in zbrush are very very small in max.)

and yes, project all will capture the color as well. you just have to turn on tool>texture>colorize on the “new” mesh before you project.
