Nudity and censorship on this forum

Hello,

I have a question that I would like to ask all the users of this forum, in an attempt to start discussion about the censorship of artwork. Before I ask, I would like to point out that I am a man who is a firm believer not only in artistic freedom of expression and free speech, but also in the equality of the sexes.

My question is as follows:

Is it right to allow full female nudity, which is often accompanied with sexist remark or portrayal on this forum, whilst censoring images of the male member from anatomical studies of the male form?

My personal view is that both the male and female anatomy should be able to be represented equally in all forms and forums of art, and that immature or derogatory portrayals of men and women should be removed from these forums of discussion.

Comments like this seem inappropriate on this forum. I’d love to hear what everyone else’s opinions on this matter are.

There was a little talk about this not long ago.
If the reason for this thread was that remark you quoted then humour should be removed along with nudity. And why not with everything else so we can stare at a pure, innocent white screen that keeps us safe from thoughts, desires, feelings, from everything that might awaken from within us seeing a piece of art that has an idea?

I am only new to this forum but this may be a good time to test the water.

I agree with the post above. Crude statements in humor are part of our personalities and to take away that freedom is worse. In the case of the quoted statemnt by "slocik".
I agree, everything with boobs is cool. My wife is cool, cows are cool and he fat guy who lives next door is cool too. haha, taste of my humor.

Lobby, I am only new to 3d but have been an artist for many years. Over those years I have exhibited many paintings of both female and male nudes. The public response to subjects is mixed but that is manly due to the gender veiwing the work. Trust me sometimes the ladies can be rude too. You need to catch the ladies at the right moment to hear their thoughts on a particular work… and watch their eyes too.

Art is art, and appreciation of art, regardless how it is word’ed is better than no appreciation.

Thanks for the replies so far. I do not think I expressed myself properly last night (it was late and I was tired), and I think things have been taken the wrong way. I am very much in favor of free speach and that includes remarks made by others which I personally find objectionable. I am also a very liberal person, and am in no way puritanical in my views. Please do not take offence at what I am about to say.

The reason I quoted slocik was intended as a way of showing the kind of remarks and attitudes permissable on the forum. I have a girlfriend, and have lived with many women. I know they can be rude, and I know that some people find certain artworks objectionable. I am fully in favor of the marking of posts as containing violence or nudity to allow those who find it objectionable not to watch. Back to the comment by slocik: comments such as “boobs are cool” are allowed, but would “testicles are cool”, or “great big bollocks” be allowed? If not, why? If it is a free expression of humor? Also, the portrayal of naked women on the site: I have no problem with images of naked people, male or female. My original post was intended to start a debate about the portrayal of naked members of both sexes. I do not think images of naked women should be censored, and at the same time I do not think censorship of naked men is justifiable. Indeed, I find the hypocrisy offensive. The classic sculptures and anatomical studies portrayed artfully and inoffensively the beauty of the human form. With posts labelled accordingly, why should images of naked men be censored, whilst naked women are not?

I have to admit its quite funny to see your response slocik. It says a lot… Oh yeah, does this indicate that the reason naked women feature on this forum is because men like you get off on it? Or is there a more justifiable reason? People who desire equality for all are not a problem in the world, nor does finding “boobs are cool” to be a juvenile statement indicate a lack of a sense of humor. I mearly find different things funny than you do. Also, whether or not I find something sexy has no relevance on what I would or would not censor.

eaven if so, who cares ? just drop it, go spam your opinions on another forum :confused: this is cg forum, not a forum about sex eauilty. And i really dont care about what you find funny, and about your other problems. I would appreciate if dont involve me in more threads :confused:
