Nube Q: Trying to move my 3DPolyMesh

I have gone through Lynda.com’s ZBrush 3 tutorial, and I already love what Zbrush is capable of (especially for it’s price-tag!).

I have, what I think, is a basic question: How do I move, rotate, and scale a 3D Poly Mesh?

I know that when first sculpting your character or object, you can use the tools fairly easily when the “Edit” button is selected.

I also know that once you have decided to switch to another tool the warning statement about “switching from Edit/Transformation” interface will make the basic sculpting of your object or character stage complete.

My problem is that I have an odd face of a character I modeled from a polysphere, and now I want to paint him. When I change my tools, I can’t seem to move him around so I can paint him.

How do I go about doing this?

(Also, if I did mess up any points here, please correct me.)

The only other thing I can offer up is that my interface layout looks a lot different than the one in the tutorial. I don’t seem to have access to my many burshes, such as a “Move Brush” (which would be really helpful). Whenever I boot up the program I get some error about the “Wintab”.

I’m not sure if this has anything to do with what I am asking, but I thought I would add it just in case.

Thanks for the help. I love this product!

well, the problem is that you’re not working on that object anymore once you switch tools…well, so to speak.

You will want to stay in Edit mode and polypaint, or use projection master to paint the object.

If you want to paint on your guy with polypaint. Simply turn off Zadd, and turn on RGB, pick a color and go to town.

if you go to http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/ you can find a ton of tutorials that will get you started. Start with the vids in “getting started”

Also, what version of Zbrush are you using? 3.1? If so, the move brush, is in the brushes pallette. If you’re still using 3.0 (or if your vids were) then you need to upgrade to 3.1

Thanks for the help!

I actually did a re-install, and everything seems to be in the right place now.
