Has anyone else noticed the icons at the top of each subtool aren’t documented anywhere? If they are, the info is really well hidden.
I didn’t get too much into subtools in 3.5, but with 4 I will be, and would love to know what they actually do.

Boolean operations.
Those buttons are the boolean operations for use when using the Remesh All button to skin around subtools. they are, in order from left to right Union, Difference, and Intersection.
Using them for me is a bit of a trial and error process, since I’ve never really used them except to try the feature out with a cylinder and a cube. But, as far as I can tell, the first visible mesh in the list should be set to Union, and all further subtools shapes are used to modify the first. You should also have the first tool selected I think.
Union – just combines the overall shape of the tools.
Difference – subtracts the shape of the second from the first (eg, subtracting a cylinder from a sphere might punch a hole through it)
Intersection – creates a mesh from the parts of the subtools that occupy the same space.
Also, thanks to Pixo’s fondness for being arcane, I think the Intersection button is used as a ‘transparency’ flag in ZB4 for the best preview renderer.
Thanks guys. So, what’s the paintbrush icon for?
EDIT: Polypaint transfer?
To show/hide polypaint
Cool, thanks Richard.
Hopefully that info gets added to the docs, or a proper manual sometime.
p.162 of the What’s New pdf:
To activate or change an operator, click on one of the three operators
icons in the SubTool selector: Add (default), Subtract or Intersection.
I guess I was right when I said it was well hidden then
But right you are. Good to know it’s there.
Is there something in the manual about the paintbrush icon?
