Normals problem

Hi, can someone check my teeth.ztl tool (download at the bottom) please? I have problems import and export an obj.-file from it. Looks like the normals are always flipped or something like that. But my settings should be correct.

When i export an obj.file from level 1 and try to import it again into my tool, the next subdivision level is crashed. Trying to fix it by flipping the normals in the Display Properties and export it again isn’t working too.

All my other tools are working fine, when i import or export an obj.

I’m using ZBrush 3.1!

Hmm. Tried it. In 3.1, exported OBJ. Checked OBJ in Blender. Looks
fine, including normals.

Re-imported. Classic exploding mesh

Tried again, using ‘Unify’ before export. Same issue.

Then I tried the same process in 3.5r2 (without Unify). It worked OK.
No explosion.

Suspect it’s 3.1 messing up. I found another recurring normal problem in
3.1 was fixed in 3.5 recently.

Thanks grey32 for checking the tool. I can’t use ZBrush 3.5 because my cpu doesn’t support SSE2. So i have to find a way to fix that problem with 3.1.
Can you maybe create an obj from level 4 in ZBrush 3.5 with correct normals and i give it a try to reconstruct the subdiv in 3.1. Maybe import-export is working correctly after that.
Thanks in advance!

Sure. Here ya go…

Should have thought of it. I still use 3.1 most of the time, and have
done just this to get clean imports back from 3.5.

Thanks again Grey32!
But it’s not working. I can reconstruct the subdivisions but still the re-import and explosion mesh problem.
But i will leave it like that for the moment, this tool is not so important right now.
Thanks again!

Definitely weird.

I tried a few more things, but like you, I can’t get that mesh to re-import in
3.1, even after running it through 3.5.

Stumped.
