Normalmap in viewport as texture? how..

I’m stuck at the moment, ive zbrushed my karakter, imported different parts head arms torso etc. and i chose to use normal mapping… but now i want to import my complete model to paint te texture in zbrush.

so i have all my normal map part, compile them on my uv layout, so all the normalls are in one texture, from my unwrap. and ad it to my model and max, and it looks good… but now i cant import the model in zbrush to texture it, and see the detailing, caus its in the normal mapping,

““so my question is, can i have the normal map visible in zbrush as texture, so i can paint over it, and see where im at on my model, veins etc…””

Normal maps are strictly a rendering effect, achieved by OpenGL features. In other words, it’s done by your graphics card at render time. There’s no way to display those details in ZBrush so that you can reference them while painting textures.

Something you could try, though would be to convert your normal map to an alpha by pressing Texture>Make Alpha. You can then set Tool>Displacement>Intensity to a value of your choice. What will happen is that the normal map will be used as a bump map, which can be displayed while you paint your textures. It won’t be perfect, but it should be enough of a reference to allow you to paint an accurate texture.

thanks , this will help a lot
