Normal Seams

Here is the thing

http://ddnetworkofartists.net/index.php?itemid=34&catid=7

Tried to do that with simple model and couldnt fix the seam thing.

Workflow was:
1.Basemodel from another 3d software. Model had one seam like in that issues pictures.
2.Detailing with ZBrush. Taking out Normal tangent map with ZMapper.
3.Back to another 3d software and placing textures. Adding new edge nearby that seam edge.
Result: No affect.

Second flow was just something like opposite of the above. Creating new edge nearby seam and then bring to ZBrush, detailing and back to another 3d software. Result was nothing.

So what is going on in that urls issue? Because it isnt that more precise how to really do that, maybe there is some information loss occured.

This question isnt maybe about ZBrush, sorry about that, but its very close about.

Thx.

your unwrap seam needs to be on that new line, the reason is that both sides of that line have the exact same tangents.

It’s not a good work flow regardless, you need to have your settings in Zmapper set up to correctly blur and blend the seam of the UV’s to help to correct this problem.

Yea, it worked that way what you said. Although there was still a very small seam, but it wasnt that bad what it was before splitting.

ZMapper is very hard to get confiqured properly, because there is lots of switches and else things. Using “3dsmax8modifiedE.zmp”, which has been said that its good preset, still leaves seams. And not forgetting those another 3d software renderers, which could cause some seams for example when rendering in different resolutions.

Thx for your answer.
