Normal Maps Reverses in Mentalray/Maya

Hi Everyone,

Been trying to solve this problem for a long time now, and still can’t figure it out.
Would really appreciate the help.

Basically my normal maps when rendered with mentakray/Maya seem to be inverted. Even using GOZ, or reversing the green channels doesn’t seem to help.

This is how the actual model looks like in zbrush:

As you can see the normal maps seem inverted, i tried moving the lights around but still it looks inverted.

I have also tried generating the normal maps manually:
Flip G
Flip V
Still nothing…

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Update:
I have tested the normal map in 3Ds Max and it seems to render fine. Rendered in mentalyray. Normal maps generated with Goz for 3dsmax.

Seems Maya’s Mentalray is screwy, any ideas why? Am i missing something here?

I don’t use Maya so I am no help and this seems to be a MentalRay Maya specific problem.

anyone got any possible solution to this problem?

Maya forums are probably a better bet for your answer.
