normal maps in zbrush

hi… is there a way to open a existing normalmap in zbrush that sculpt it right in?

for example:
i have a normalmap generated out of an image of a tree.
and i want that to project on a cilinder

is there a way to let zbrush sculpt the depht inside the cilinder automaticly?

Normal maps do not include true depth information. They’re a map for a rendering trick that adjusts the orientation of the normals without actually moving any points. Thus it would not be possible to convert a normal map into sculpting on the model like you can with a displacement map.
