Normal Maps blurry in Mental Ray

Hey guys Ive been searching multiple forums on the internet to find this answer but I haven’t found concrete results.

Ive created normal maps in Zbrush 3.1 for use in Maya 2008.

Everything is working great until I compare renders in Maya Software and Mental Ray. The Mental Ray renders make the normal maps blurry while Maya Software creates some really nice High Res normal map texture.

Has anyone ran into this problem before?

Normal maps and mental ray will clash unless you have a shader specifically to use them together. This is because they are competing systems, mental ray works on “realistic” physics, where as normal maps are basically a hack to give the illusion of detail using a bitmap.
