Hey guys hope you can help me. I was wondering how you would make a normal map with multiple objects on one normal map. Like for a character how do you make a normal map for all the subtools on the character on to one sheet.
Hope im asking that right.
if you’ve got 6 subtools, make 6 normal maps. then put them as 6 layers in one photoshop file. Then… erase! doesn’t take more than a few minutes to do.
Ok will that make a normal map sheet like this?

yeah, that would do
you can actually do this right inside of Zbrush…at least for the normals.
make your new texture, open zmapper create normals
keep that new texture applied
select a different subtool
rinse and repeat.
as long as the same texture is active it will add to the texture with each new subtool.
I tend to avoid that method, since I have noticed that sometimes if your UVs are paced tightly enough, and you dont double check your overpaint seams, then you might copy over all the map creation that you waited so patiently for.
As with all software, I only trust myself to get it right.
I also don’t do it that way…well, for one thing. I don’t use Zmapper all that often for normals. And, it doesn’t work with diffuse textures anyway…so you have to go into photoshop either way.
ok thanks im kinda new to this. So your UVs have to be correctly layed out right, if you want your normal maps to look right?
So what is the easyist way to make a normal map and a tetxture map?
I plan to poly paint my character. But how do I make the poly paint a texture sheet with multiple textures when Im done?
Im in the comicon comp and I want to make sure I do every thing right.
Hope Im asking everything right.
thanks
