Normal map problem

I’m new to zbrush central :smiley: but i’m having a problem with my Normal map. I’m generating it fine but when i do its got big triangle chunks missing. I probably sound like a noob but can anyone help please :confused: .

Unless I miss my guess, you’re a Max user. Before exporting from Max you need to make sure that # of Digits is set to 6 in the export options. You may also need to reset the xForm.

You’re going to have to read Max’s documentation for that one.

command panel>utilities>resetXforms

collapse that back down to your Epoly, or Emesh and then export out.
if you’re using max2009, start with the zbrush standard, then turn everything but UV coordinates off.

These are the settings i’m using to export my base mesh into Zbrush are they right. And i’ve reset the Xform, i’m using max 8 by the way.

I’m curious as to whether i can paint in shadows and details like i would in photoshop in zbrush for my colour texture map for my model.
I’ve started painting but i just wondered if i was able to paint in shadows. I know i can create a specular map.
