I can’t get the normal map from my Zbrush model to work in 3DS Max 9. What am I doing wrong? Here is what I do step by step:

make the base mesh in 3ds max and add a turbosmooth modifier to see how it will behave when smoothed in Zbrush

turn off turbosmooth and unwrap the lowpoly mesh

export the OBJ
-
import the OBJ in Zbrush

devide 4-5 times and start adding detail

go back one level
-
go to Normal Map and click Create NormalMap

go to Texure and export as a BMP
-
go to max and apply the texture
After I do all of this, the detail I painted is displaced. Flipping it horizontally didn’t help either. Here are screenshots for you to see:
