Normal Map/Displacement Map

Hello guys, I’m creating a mountain for personal project currently I’m using Zbrush’s surface noise to create details after applying the noise to the mesh I found out that exporting displacement map
ormal map is the only way to import it too 3Ds MAX in order to not crash.

But I find the normal map and displacement map not working as they should be, i got some screen shoots, anyone know what’s going on?

Have you tried using a decimated version of the mesh?
Which version of Max are you using? max9 and max 2012 should be able to handle a very high tri count, so depending on your zbrush mesh resolution you might be able to bring in the high poly sculpt (though a decimated mesh is probably your best bet).

I have the same problem… i use 3Dsmax 2008 now (couse i’m very disapointed by v2010)… so my problem is - the displacement and bumps I see in Zbrush4 are not the same what i get by render of mental ray (3ds max 2008)…i mean details are lost…i read almost all threads in this forum about dislpacement issues and problems…90% tutorials are unuseful, because is for older versions of ZB…Please someone help- HOW GET THE SAME DISPLACEMENT IN 3DSMAX/MR FROM ZBrush4??WHAT IS THE BEST DISP MAPS EXPORT SETTINGS?? I’ve tried HD sculpting in ZB - its look terrible in max/mr…
