Ok, so I just got into 3d a few months ago. My computer isn’t up to par (ok, it’s so far behind it’s ancient), so I’ve been doing relatively low poly stuff w/ Milkshape 3d. I’ve been rendering in Bryce (it’s fast and easy to set up… admittedly rendering times aren’t though)
So, I edit one of my models, I use GOMAX to place the model into 3d max (cause MS3d definitely couldn’t open it) and after about… oh… 15 hours later it tells me 3dmax is out of memory… #$#$@!!!
So, I’ve decided that low poly is definitely where I’ll be for some time. So I reimport my original 21k obj into Zbrush, do no sub, move one litttttle vertice, then export the .obj again. I opened it into Milkshape and CRASH.
Obviously, something I’m doing is wrong, so what is it? I didn’t change any information other than a vertex location.
Also, if by some miracle I get this to work, how do I leave my already uv’d maps the same, and simply put a displacement map on top of it? (Bryce does at least support basic bump mapping)
I appreciate any help!!!
EDIT: Ok, figured out the Ms3d loading problem. I didn’t notice the export/tri option. Ms3d doesn’t support quads :(. Ok, so I got that, and I figured out how to load my texture uv map on my model. So far so good. Only questions I have now are:
Will the displacement map match my original UV?
AND
Is there a way to get my NEW texture/polypaint texture w/o having to export my ENTIRE model?
