noob question: why can't I move vertices in Zb3?

I know this will sound pretty stupid, but I can’t move vertices in ZB3. When in edit mode, I choose move and hold&drag a vertex and an orange line is displayed with 2 stretch and 1 move options(circles).

Why doesn’t it move the vertex like it used to in good old ZB2?

Thanks in advance

Hey Cango!

The way you move vertices in Zbrush 3 is by using the Tweak Brush. When you select the Tweak Brush, make sure that you turn your brush size to 1. You can also turn on your Draw PolyFrame for easier vertex selection.

Pretty much the Tweak Brush is like the move tool in Zbrush 2.

I hope that helps!

Javier Loredo.

PS. the lines with circles are the transpose line for the transpose feature.

when i choose the move tool, or the tweak tool that stupid transpose orange line tool thing comes up, and changing the size of my brush doesnt help either, is there a button to turn it off

Thanks

You only get the transpose line (orange, three circles), when you are in
Move,Scale or Rotate mode.

To move vertices, you must be in Draw mode (Edit + Draw pressed), and
use the Move (or possibly the Nudge) BRUSHes.

To clear the transpose line when in one of the transpose modes, you simply
click once on the model, but I don’t think that’s your problem here.

Also affecting the move brush are…

  1. Z-Intensity slider (the higher it is, the easier the move)
  2. ‘Picker Sample Size’ in the preference menu, setting this down to 1 can
help avoid some issues with vertices that won’t move.

G.

press ‘Q’ that’ll get you back into draw mode.

To summarize:

To move vertices you need to be in Edit>Draw mode (not Edit>Move, Scale or Rotate) and select the Move brush from the Brush palette.

I am getting the same problems.

Could it be that I am useing ZB 3?

I would be really gratefull for some assistance as you can imagine it is kinda stoping my project dead.

Cheers.

post up a pic or series of pics showing your interface. we’re all guessing you’re in move, scale, or rotate…as that is the only time the transpose line shows up…but maybe your Zbrush hates you.

I think I have figured it. The Move and Rotate at the top were not what I wanted. I had to go to the move brush and set the intensity to max and radius down.

Seams like a long way to do things but it’s working which is the main thing.

Thanks for your help. I have a feeling I might be needing this forum again sometime.

Cheers
