Noob question - subdiv levels

I started sculpting on a base mesh and have gone up a few levels in subdivison in order to be able to add bumps with the clay tubes tool.

when I do this the area I have just added is at a lower subdivison than the rest of the mesh…

Can anyone tell me how I can get them to be the same ?? If I drop a couple of levels, there are not enough polys to add these bumps…
