noob question here

I just dl the trial. I am not a every day user. We use an external part to do sculpts for us. I have to import them into solidworks to do some final “tweeks” to them. We are in the process of fnding the most efficient way to translate the two, so far the stl version is promising (with an importer for sw). my question is, is there a way to ensure that a sculpt is “watertight” Or a way for zbrush to make it watertight. Problem being, when a sculpt is not watertight the model tanslates into surfaces (you can imangine how many little surfaces there are). If it is watertight it will translate into a solid body in solidworks. If someone could let me know that would be great.

PS so far after a few days of “playing” i like this program.

It’s hard to answer your question without more information. But you can use retopology in ZBrush to make a model watertight where it wasn’t before. See the online documentation, linked to from my signature.

When moving models between ZBrush and other apps you will usually use the OBJ format. When you’re all done in ZBrush you can also use 3D Print Exporter (see the plugins in the Download Center) to export as STL.
