Noob Help with Hair

This is my first sculpt so far I did most of the poly modelling in 3dsmax and imported into ZB, did a Sphereinder for the hair. I was wondering if anyone knew some tricks and brush settings for getting some finely detailed strands of hair (also I wanted to make some kind of free flowing strands of hair… snakehook does not seem to be very helpful for that purpose). I’ve tried using standard/pinch brushes like some tutorials out there suggest but it always come up kind of blobby or very pixelated even at higher subd levels.
