I can’t get noisemaker to produce anything useful at all. If I apply one of the noise files from lightbox I cant move it on the geometry. the noiseplug doesn’t appear to do anything, and if I try to load a jpeg the whole app seizes… I’m not getting it… I read somewhere that the feature was introduced before it was fully functional, but I’m sure that was 4r2…
Which version of ZBrush are you using? The version number is at the top left of the ZBrush window.
If you’re on ZBrush 4R3, please post a screen shot of your entire ZBrush window, including title bar. Try to show the issue as best you can.

it is 4r3. I can post a screenshot later, but there’s nothing to show really - - it’s just that none of the sliders do anything.
I’m not sure I understand the requirements, ie resolution, uv’s etc.
