I created this concept sculpt based off of Square Enix’s official concept art for Nier Re[in]carnation. The Nier franchise was what got me into game development in the first place, and I absolutely adore the character designs from Re[in]carnation, so it was a joy to bring one to life in 3D, and to work in the NieR style.
This was my first time presenting a model solely in ZBrush, and I really enjoyed exploring poly-painting, materials, lighting and compositing using only ZBrush and Photoshop. I also hadn’t worked in such a heavily anime influenced style before, and it took a lot of getting used to, but I’m very pleased with the results.
