No Texture Palette

Hi guys, I’ve been having so many problems with this texture palette.
I’m using 3.5, it’s a wonderful version but each time I try to find my Texture palette it’s never there. It’s making my experience miserable.
Is there an option somewhere that I may be over seeing? Possibly a something I’ve forgotten to turn on along the way.

I’ve done the basic test of drawing out my object, edit - Make Polymesh and still … nothing.

If someone could help me with this I’d be so grateful.
Thank you, guys.

Can you post up an image of your ui?
I seem at a loss on how you’re losing a palette.

This is how I have it set up so far - you’ll notice no Texture tool, therefore; no Col > Txt subtool.
Even after I draw out an object, hit edit or make a polymesh.

I hope the image helps.

You’re clearly viewing tutorials or documentation that were written for ZBrush 3.1.

Things changed a little with 3.5. Look under the Tool>Texture Map menu instead. And rather than being called “Col>Txr” it’s now labeled “New from Polypaint”.

Oh wow, that’s a BIG help! Thanks so much, I just couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong!

May I ask you though - I ran a quick test to see if I could get it working before posting this and I’m finding that even after drawing the object, entering edit, then making a polymesh - this is even after adding an image to texture from in the background - I use Zproject to transfer the texture over the object - then go into the Texture Map menu but notice that New from Polypaint is not active. What step might I have missed?

It sounds like your model doesn’t have UV mapping. Open the Tool>UV Map menu, set the desired texture size, and click one of the UV mapping options like PUVTiles.

You should also upgrade to ZBrush 3.5 R3 (free to registered users). Open a ticket at Support.

Fantastic, thank you Aurick.
That was the trick.

Thanks Marcus, but I’m already using 3.5.

Your screenshot shows that it’s 3.5[COLOR=White]R2, NOT 3.5R3. Release 3 is the only version that is supported anymore. It’s also the only one for which plugins can be installed (and in fact includes a lot of them in a default installation).
