No texture at ALL showing up in maya after export

No textures showing up on my zbrush made model, I’ve detailed exactly what I do.

My workflow

Model with zspheres
Make polymesh3d
subdivide a few times
Color>fill object (with material and rgb turned on)
Paint a simple texture with various rgbs
I’ll delete the lower divides just for convenience (the model is 5000 polys)
I’ll click on group UV tiles and then on color>texture.
I then export the texture flipped vertically. (saved as bmp)
Then I export the obj with quad polys and merge uv coords turned on(I also try with merge turned off).

Then in maya I simply import the obj and right click on the model.
I assign a new material (lambert, blinn has been tried) then click on the color attribute and upload the texture.bmp file that I exported.
I try to render the model but nothing shows up (specular shows up so I know the texture is actually on the model). I do a test with other models already made with textures on them and they render fine. But whenever I take the model that was created in zbrush and try to add any material whatsoever to it, it does not show up. And what I mean by not showing up is that absolutely nothing shows up, just the specular from the blinn.

I’m guessing there is a very simple thing I’m missing. please help as I’m stuck with no where to go.

Ok I found out what I was doing wrong.

When I was exporting I was turning off the “texture” tab, in doing this I believe what was happening was that there was no uv information being exported at all, hence why I couldn’t texture it. I’m pretty sure this is what I was doing wrong, someone enlighten me if this is not correct.
