no online activation possible?!?!

Hi,

sorry for double post but it seems the support/registration forum is broken and not well visited.

i installed a new win xp on thursday with all applications including zbrush on my new machine. everything worked, zbrush activating worked like a charm. then i noticed i installed the wrong OS (installed home but needed pro) so im not 100% sure if i disabled the license.

now i installed everything new and the right OS, but now i cant use the online activation for zbrush to register, its grey. only phone or email is possible.
so, could it be that i have forgotton to disable the old license? or is there a protection when someone “often” uses this method in a short time?!?

ps: i know that i have two “license” but im installing the stuff on a new machine and beside this i have my old machine with zbrush on it. so one license is already in use.

after a new windows installation the same problem, and i cant make an online registration with my old machine neither (the 3rd pc) so it seems it must be a problem with the server?!?!

Assuming you’re using ZB3 or 3.1. When you changed OS, you invalidated you current activation. As a result, Zbrush is now confused as to where it is. (It thinks its on a new machine.)

If you have any activations left on your license, you can try completely uninstalling your current Zbrush (delete the folder as well) and try reinstalling. If there is an activation left, it will allow you to activate the reinstalled copy. If not, you will need to open a support ticket and they activated you by email or phone.

When changing OS (or even making significant changes to your machine) with ZB 3.0 and 3.1, it’s very important to deactivate Zbrush before you begin making significant system changes or it will “break” the activation. The new activation system (not sure if it will be in ZB 3.5 or ZB 4) is planned to not be so sensitive . . . (at least those are the comments I have received.)

im rather sure i have deactivated the license. i have a completely new instaleld os on this machine, it was the same problem before. when u delete the folder u will get problems with the license.
the only pissibilites are 1. i havent disabled the license or 2. something is wrong with pixologics server atm.

The support/registration forums work fine, and they have always given me quick responses during normal business hours. Unfortunately, you are having this problem over the weekend. If you are still having an issue, you should have much better luck getting a response tomorrow during normal business.

Assuming, of course, they aren’t doing anything like releasing a brand new software version tomorrow, and wont be snowed under from issues associated with that :wink:
