Nivek Ogre - Skinny Puppy

Considering the high caliber of many of the artists sharing their work on ZBrushCentral, I find it a bit intimidating posting any of my work on this site. As intimidating as some of the artwork on this site oftentimes is, I’m just as impressed by the high level of camaraderie and generosity that I’ve seen on this site.

So, below I've posted a few images of my latest project. It's the first time I've used ZBrush. Most of the modeling was admittedly done in Maya using standard box modeling. Although my confidence modeling with ZBrush has grown a great deal, when I began this project I felt like "Bull in a china shop" whenever I tried using ZBrush for modeling. The inspiration for this project was to create a likeness of Nivek Ogre. For those of you who don't know, Nivek Ogre is the lead singer of Skinny Puppy. Nivek Ogre and Skinny Puppy should provide any artist with an abundance of creative ideas. For those of you who are fans of Skinny Puppy, I hope you enjoy my creation. I began box modeling in Maya - []![imageplanes.jpg|791x450](upload://zngoVjNj4vKK4ye9LQek9e2sXrp.jpeg)[![imageplanes_begin.jpg|791x450](upload://wZHgMtbMhAHoJD55gbYIJCIcUi4.jpeg) Now that I've grown more confident with modeling in ZBrush I plan on sculpting the majority of my next model in ZBrush. I hope you enjoy Ogre!

WoW!Fantastic. I can’t wait anymore for your next work!

Bye

good job, his skin is a little too shiny. i would tone down the specularity on it. and his eyes need some work, more milky grey and some underlying red in there. good job so far.

I agree, his eyes could use some work. This is the first time I’ve painted eyes from scratch in Photoshop -

His skin might be a little too shiny, but I used that level of specularity to give him the look of being wet with sweat. I’ll play around with the specularity and see if I get better results.

Thanks for the feedback PJC_Slimo.

that eye looks pretty good right there. it just doesn’t look watery which is why it’s kinda weird. i can understand the the shiny factor with the skin, but if he’s covered in sweat, then it needs to be broken up since sweat doesn’t cover 100% of you and falls due to gravity. it only leaks from sweat pores which is another reason why it needs to be broken up. good luck with making it looks he was sweaty, that seems like it would be harder to do than just normal dry/oily skin.
