Nimlot's Sketchbook

After I finished reading the Witcher books I really wanted to make Geralt. So here he is on his final pose. As usual, since it’s a personal project and not intended for a game, I’ve pushed the polycount and texture size a little bit. I have no doubt tho that it’s not far from the polycount that an AAA main character has.
You can find on my gumroad the model for sale if you’re interested. In the next few weeks I will release a full character creation tutorial for those who were unable to follow me while streaming.
The high poly was made in zbrush and marvelous designer. Low poly was made in Topogun. Hair was mostly made with Ornatrix in 3ds max. Textures in Quixel Suite and Photoshop. Rendered in the amazing new Marmoset Toolbag 3. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

The final model looks great! Thank you for the tutorial.

SIMPLY AMAZING WORK!!! Can you please give a quick explanation as to how you rendered out the Normal Maps??? With so many overlapping pieces, how do you manage everything???

Thank you very much :slight_smile:

@x-titan

With overlapping meshes, you can bake with “exploded baking” method, or “match by name/ID” depending on the baker where Substance Painter 2 works here, for example. But with overlapping UV’s you’ll just have to bake one of the mirrored side once.

Great work, Georgian. Gonna check your tutorial for other interesting tips and tricks because I’m using Allegorithmic’s SP2 instead of Quixel.

Thanks guys.

As FourtyNights said I’ve baked pieces separately. Marmoset Tollbag 3 or substance can bake each piece separately if they’re named right and combine them into a single texture.

worked a little bit on a new character…this is my progress so far

Wow the tattoos on the girl look real!!! Great sculpt/ color awesome stuff! Top row!!!

not yet…let me finish it first :lol:

I’ve made an Owl ring and had it printed in silver. It was printed in raw silver and I’ve aged it at home. I think it turned out quite awesome.

I’ve uploaded my female basemesh(more like a working mesh) on gumroad. It includes skin details and a decent polypaint that I use as a base for all of my textures.
I hope you’ll find it useful.
