NightShade WIP

Hiya Stoppy,

I use a combination of HeadUS UVLayout and Max’s UV Tools. UVLayout is really fast at carving out the UV Boundary and Pelting them, from within a 3D or 2D view … it also has some really nice features like topological symmetry and theres a script so you can use it from within max. It doesn’t have the finer control that Max has though so i still use both.

You can find it … http://www.uvlayout.com/

Now … Go Stoppy Go …

Thanks Eric

Is it possible to upload movies? as this guys rigged as well.

Stunning work and what a killer character design!:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

This happens once in awhile, you come to visit ZBC and then some upstart  artist comes and rattles the cages  . This is a real nice character with a wonderful and thoughtful blending of ideas. There have been many tree men and a couple of flower guys “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Day of the Trifids”, however this character looks to have great mobility and sinister attidudes.
In any event Great Job!
Gary

really fantastic and unique design. love it!

this is awesome work, really digging the design and colorful theme you’ve got going on.

WoW amazing character, can we see the Zbrush sculpt?

Here are some more focused images of the ZBrush ZSculpt. I used the gw_grouce MAT CAP with AO.

Was really impressed with how these turned out so I’m going to try an actual render with all the frills turned on as I haven’t done that before. Hmm …any Ideas on how to do Self Illuminated Materials and a glowing light source?

This is wip, any ideas how to fake a glowing light source using a MATCAP material?

Beautiful work :+1: !

Very original concept! I love the detail in the chest of how the different elements intertwine with each other. If I had any criticism whatsoever, I would say that the underside texture of the leaf over his right shoulder (our left) looks a little funky. But that’s it. Bravo!

Cool concept! Well executed too

Really nice work dude, I love the colour pallet that you have chosen and think that the bio luminescence really gives your character that extra kick.

I do however think that the leaves behind his head and the area around the eyes are maybe a bit too polygonal in contrast to the mesh res elsewhere.

Other than that a job well done. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Haya

Looking very nice dude. His come together realy well.

I realy like the overall feel of the character, his/its got a good menacing vibe. And the insane level of detail is awesome

My only crits would be that perhaps the level of detail is a little inconsistent, between his upper and lower body. But thats only nit picking tho. Also i agree with Sinhouse that the outer head leaves are a little low poly for such a dominant area.

Very impressive and inventive. I’m looking forward to see what you come up with next

I’ve been tinkering with this piece in Vray and the Zsculpt has come out quite nice. The reason I couldnt do this before was because my mesh was broken and Tranpose master and Decimator scripts failed to work correctly. It turned out to be a couple of open edges causing all the fuss. Once they were fixed they all worked like a charm.

wow! this looks cool. like a badass-flower!

render setup?!

i realy like the concept of the hand…good job…keep it up man!

Very interesting design, cool render too :+1:

Thanks for all the support guys.

SStrikerr - I’m using the same setup as my Scarlett character and I posted a quick info page on the setup there which shows the lights and materials used.

Is this the kind of information you wanna see?

The Render itself is a decimated Zbrush mesh imported directly to max and rendered with VRay. The render settings are fairly typical. I’m going to try an render a version that’s closer to what the final version will look like. Translucent abdominal and glowing energy. Its one of the reasons I’m experimenting with Vray, as Zbrush doesnt have glowing/emitting materials …yet.

Wow, such a beautiful render. I think a model looks best as a clay render.
